Sohrabuddin Sheikh case : Kataria gets anticipatory bail

Soh (UNI) A local court in Mumbai granted anticipatory bail to Leader of the Opposition in Rajasthan Assembly Gulab Chand Kataria, in the infamous Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake encounter case. Kataria, who was the Home Minister in the then Vasundhara Raje Government in Rajasthan at the time of alleged encounter by the Gujarat police in Gandhi nagar in 2005, moved the bail application before a Metropolitan Magistrate Court in Mumbai yesterday that was accepted by the Court. In the supplementary charge sheet filed by the CBI in the case a fortnight ago, Kataria was charged under section 120-B read with 364, 365, 368, 341, 342, 302 and 201 of IPC, for conspiring to kill and acting as a link between the marble trader Vimal Patni and the then Gujarat Minister of State for Home Amit Shah. Sohrabuddin a criminal/mafia had allegedly demanded Rs 24 crore as ransom/protection money from Patni's group and this according to CBI was the cause behind the criminal's killing in fake encounter. The bail came to Kataria as a relief that averted his arrest by the CBI on June 4 when he is scheduled to appear before the court for hearing. UNI
