
(UNI) Women and Child Development Minister Krishna Tirath said the government might moot amending existing laws to make them tougher for juveniles who commit heinous crimes repeatedly.
'We can consider making a small amendment in the laws that if a juvenile commits heinous crimes or rapes repeatedly, then what action can be taken,' she said here.
A parliamentary panel had recently suggested lowering the age bar for juveniles from 18 years to 16 years.
She said she did not favour changing the present definition of a juvenile, according to which those below 18 years of age are children. UNI
