(UNI) An FIR against Facebook Inc and others has been lodged by senior Indian Police Service(IPS) officer Amitabh Thakur and social activist Nutan Thakur in the Gomti Nagar police station, Lucknow, for inciting cow slaughter and vilifying Hinduism and Islam.
The FIR has been filed under sections 153, 290, 504, IPC and section 66 A Information Technology Act, 2000.
The complaint says that a Facebook group aao mil kar kaaten gaay (Let us come together to slaughter cows) openly exhorts and glorifies cow slaughter.
It also contains extremely abusive and dirty words by various users against Hinduism and Islam and Prophet Mohammad and Hindu gods and goddesses.
These abuses are of such nature that they wantonly give provocation with intent to cause riot and do acts prejudicial to maintenance of harmony and intentional insult to provoke breach of the peace, it said.
The complaint says that till now Amitabh and Nutan have registered four FIRs of like nature but these incidents recur since no action was taken. Despite repeated directions, the Facebook Inc is criminally liable because it has not taken the due precaution as warranted under section 79 of the IT Act.UNI
