Delhi HC to AIIMS: Constitute medical board for Chautala's health exam

supreme_court_logo_6 (UNI) The Delhi High Court directed AIIMS to constitute a medical board to examine the health of former Haryana chief minister Om Prakash Chautala, who is lodged in Tihar jail and facing imprisonment of 10 years for irregularities in JBT teachers appointment in 2000. Justice Siddharth Mridul told Director, All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), to conduct a medical check up of Mr Chautala along with a team of doctors. The Court said the medical board should be constituted with a team of doctors with one specialist each from AIIMS, Ram Manohar Lohia (RML), GB Pant Hospital and Tihar Jail. Mr Chautala had filed a petition for bail citing various health problems and old age. He also asked to suspend his jail term on same grounds saying that he is suffering from various ailments. The court asked Director AIIMS to file their reply within two days and posted the matter to May 21. The trial court had sentenced Mr Chautala and his son Ajay Chautala and eight others to 10 years imprisonment. A convict was sentenced to five years of imprisonment while 45 others were sentenced to four years jail term. All the accused were convicted for illegally recruiting 3,206 junior basic trained teachers in Haryana in 2000. UNI
