Delhi HC reserves order on Sajjan Kumar's plea challenging trial court order

sanjai (UNI) The Delhi High Court reserved its order on the plea of Congress leader Sajjan Kumar challenging the trial court order to frame charges against him in anti-Sikh riots case in Sultanpuri of North Delhi in which six people were killed in 1984. Justice Suresh Kait reserved the order after conclusion of arguments from all the parties. The HC had to pronounce its order earlier but some more facts were brought into the case the hearing had to be continued till its final conclusion. Sajjan Kumar had challenged the trial court order which had framed charges against five accused including the Congress leader in July 2010. The charges were framed for murder of six people during the 1984 riots which had erupted soon after the assassination of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. The other accused besides Sajjan Kumar are Congress leader Brahmanand Gupta, Peru, Khushal Singh and Ved Prakash Pal and charges of murder and destruction of property were levelled against them. Sajjan Kumar and two others had moved the HC in 2010 against the trial court order and the matter was going on since then. Meanwhile a Karkardooma court had acquitted Sajjan Kumar in another case relating to the killings of five people in Cantonment Area on the same day, the anti-sikh riots took place. UNI
