(UNI) Allahabad High Court today termed strike by the lawyers or their intervention in the Bar Association elections as total illegal and asked the authorities not to accept illegal demands of the lawyers.
‘The lawyers can only go for peaceful strike by not paralysing the work only if there is any threat in the independence of the judiciary,’ the court stated.
A Division Bench of the court comprising Justices Sunil Ambawani and Bharat Bhushan gave their ruling on a petition filed by Elder Committee, Central Bar Association, Azamgarh.
The court said that frequent strike by the lawyers is totally illegal and the authorities should not succumb to any pressure from the Bar. UNI
